「台灣與印度的流亡藏人研究」國際工作坊
【工作坊主旨/objective】
自從中共佔領西藏，數萬名藏人追隨達賴喇嘛流亡印度和尼泊爾。隨後，達賴喇嘛在印度成立西藏流亡政府，並建立了定居點、學校、佛寺和醫藥機構安頓藏人難民，60年以來造就了流亡社區的自主發展。然而因為難民身份在法律和經濟處境上的限制與挑戰，藏人紛紛開始從印度移出到歐美等國，造成流亡社區人口的明顯改變，而其中也有少數來到台灣定居，因為種種原因而使這些群體隱而不見。達賴喇嘛幾次造訪台灣之後，連結台灣和流亡政府的關係，以及藏傳佛教的傳播，增加台灣社會對於流亡藏人的關注。本工作坊分別從政治、社會、經濟、文化和醫藥等面向，針對流亡社區現況，以及台灣和西藏流亡社區的關係發展，提供學術研究討論的平台，從不同的研究視角反思台藏關係與難民研究的新議題。
Following the Chinese occupation of Tibet, about 80,000 Tibetan followed the Dalai Lama and escaped to India and Nepal. Soon after coming into exile, the Dalai Lama announced the establishment of the Tibetan government in exile. This was followed by the establishment of Tibetan settlements, schools, and monastic and medical institutions to rehabilitate Tibetan refugees. By the end of 1970, there was a concrete, distinct, and organized Tibetan diaspora community in India. Due to various challenges, particularly the legal and economic challenges, many Tibetans later migrated to the West, resulting in a significant shift in the demographic landscape of the Tibetan diaspora. In addition to India, Nepal, and the West, a few hundred Tibetans settled in Taiwan. By virtue of its small number and political reason, the Tibetan diaspora in Taiwan remains invisible to the local Taiwanese community and the Tibetan diaspora at large. However, since the Dalai Lama's first visit to Taiwan, the relationship between Taiwan and exiled Tibetan has changed. The unprecedented growth of Tibetan Buddhism in Taiwan also helped to create more awareness about Tibetan diaspora in Taiwan.
The workshop focuses on new research on the Tibetan diaspora in India and Taiwan. We hope to bring diverse discussion; therefore, topics include various aspects like political, socio-economic, cultural and medicine. This is a continuation of the first workshop held last year on July 24 2021.
